1.2 Your 1st Trimester Changes

As your first trimester comes to an end, your body is going through some big changes. The most noticeable change is probably your growing belly.

But there are other changes happening too, both inside and out.

Here’s a look at some of the things that are going on during your first trimester:

Your uterus is growing: Your uterus is growing and expanding to make room for your baby. It’s normal for your belly to feel full and bloated during this time.

Your breasts are changing: Your breasts may be feeling tender, tingly, or sore as they prepare for breastfeeding.

You may also notice that your nipples are darker and larger.
You’re urinating more: As your uterus grows, it puts pressure on your bladder, causing you to urinate more often.
You’re constipated: The hormone progesterone slows down digestion, which can lead to constipation. Eating a high-fiber diet and drinking plenty of fluids can help.

You have more energy: In the early weeks of pregnancy, you may find yourself with more energy than usual. This is known as the “energy burst” and usually happens in the first trimester.

You’re moody: You may feel happy one minute and sad the next. This is due to the hormonal changes happening in your body.

You have food cravings: You may find yourself craving certain foods or drinks during pregnancy. This is also due to the hormonal changes happening in your body.

You’re tired: In the first trimester, you may find yourself feeling more tired than usual. This is due to the increased levels of the hormone progesterone in your body.

Your skin is changing: Your skin may be breaking out due to the hormonal changes happening in your body.
You’re gaining weight: You may gain weight during pregnancy due to the increased levels of the hormone progesterone in your body.

Your hair is changing: Your hair may become thicker or fuller during pregnancy. This is due to the increased levels of the hormone progesterone in your body.

Your first trimester is a time of big changes for your body. Be sure to talk to your doctor if you have any concerns.
