Reflecting on 400 Years of American and African History

In this journey, we will visit major milestones that have occurred over the last 400 years, when the slavery ships first arrived in the US and better understand why me must continue to improve equity and opportunity for all.

Vital Signs

This blended course will introduce CHWs to vital signs which includes blood pressure, pulse, body temperature, and respiratory rate.

Barriers to Access

CHWs will be taught the various barriers that impact one’s access to healthcare and what kinds of things can lead to those barriers. You will also learn how to identify a person’s barriers and determine a plan to increase their accessibility.

Social Determinants of Health

In this course, CHWs will be introduced to the different social determinants of health, the outcome they can have on one’s health, and the role the community health worker can have on making them influencers of health rather than determinants.

Population Health

This course will introduce CHWs to Population Health and the socioecological model as it relates to health.

Be a Force for Health

In this course, CHWs will be introduced to the Force for Health program and learn about the importance of identifying and working on their own health needs so that they are better equipped to help others.


This course will teach you what resiliency is, how to identify protective factors and signs of stress, how to manage that stress, and how to prepare and respond to tough situations.

Exercise and Fitness

Health-related fitness is important because it strengthens both mental and physical health. A healthy mind helps a body recuperate from the stress of daily life, and a healthy body can live life fully with reduced risks for certain diseases such as obesity, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes.

Basics of Cholesterol

Welcome! This brief course will outline the basics of a cholesterol test, why this test is performed, and what the results of a cholesterol test can tell you about your overall health.  

Health Equity

    During this course, CHWs will learn about the different health disparities that exist and what populations they are primarily affecting. You will also be taught different ways a CHW can play a role in reducing those health disparities through health equity.  

Basics of BMI

Welcome! Take this course to learn more about your body mass index (BMI) and how it may be used to assess your health-related risks.

Basics of Hemoglobin A1C

This course will provide an overview of the basics of an A1C test, why it is performed, and how to interpret the result of an A1C test.

Basics of Blood Pressure

This course will guide you through how blood pressure is measured and what your diastolic and systolic numbers mean.

Basics of Diabetes

This course will give an overview of diabetes and basic diabetes facts as well as the different types of the disease.
