Utilizing Community Resources
If you are in need of assistance, community resources can provide a helping-hand that can see you through adversity.
Following Hurricane Katrina, many community organizations pitched in and helped displaced citizens. Go out and learn about what community organizations exist in your area, and try to get involved. Your knowledge of these resources will improve your resiliency in many life-threatening situations and in emergencies.
Community resources include:
- Places of worship (churches, synagogues, temples, mosques, and other such organizations)
- Schools
- Businesses
- Community centers
- Public health centers
- Shared homes
There are many different community organizations you can go to.
If you are able, lend your talents and abilities to assisting these organizations and ensuring that the members of your community are cared for as they find themselves in times of need.
