Chikungunya
Chikungunya is a disease that is spread by mosquitoes.
It is found in Africa, Asia, and the Indian subcontinent.
The disease got its name from the Makonde word for “that which bends up,” because one of the common symptoms is joint pain.
Chikungunya is a viral infection that can cause fever, joint pain, muscle pain, headache, and rash. There is no specific treatment for Chikungunya, but the symptoms can be treated.
The best way to prevent Chikungunya is to avoid getting bit by mosquitoes.
You can do this by using insect repellent, wearing long sleeves and pants, and staying in places with screens on the windows and doors.
You can also get rid of standing water, which is where mosquitoes lay their eggs.
There is a Chikungunya vaccine, but it is not widely available.
