UN SDG’s – Goal #15 – Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss
Welcome students, to our fifteenth session exploring the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals!
Our focus today will be on goal number fifteen, Life on Land.
This goal seeks to protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, including forests, combat desertification, stop land degradation and halt biodiversity loss.
We’ll explore the reasons why deforestation is rampant in some regions while interventions designed to protect and maintain healthy forests are underutilized by others. We’ll also examine how climate change impacts both land and sea life and look into the strategies countries are employing such as conservation programs, sustainable agriculture practices and reforestation initiatives. Join us now to discover more about this essential topic!
Our local habitat’s all over the world, are where the animals and plants live. Doing small steps to help our local ecosystems is being a force for health for the world.
- Support local organizations that work to protect and conserve wildlife and natural habitats
- Organize a tree-planting or conservation project in a nearby park or nature reserve.
- Start a community-based monitoring program to track the health and biodiversity of local ecosystems.
