UN SDG’s – Goal #13 – Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts
Welcome students, to our thirteenth session exploring the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals! Our focus today will be on goal number thirteen, Climate Action. This goal seeks to take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts while recognizing that all countries have different capacities and abilities in this area. We’ll explore the causes of climate change, the consequences of not taking action and the measures that can be taken to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. From renewable energy sources to new approaches to land use management, there are a number of ways we can work together on a global scale to create a more ecologically balanced planet.
Its controversial but listening to the facts and science will help guide you. Your individual actions around the world add up. Acts locally…impacts globally. Think “G’LOCAL”!
- Support local organizations that work to address climate change and promote sustainable energy.
- Organize a workshop or event to raise awareness about the issue of climate change in your community.
- Start a community garden or tree-planting program in your community to sequester carbon and promote biodiversity.Don’t forget to record you thoughts to the “Notes” to the right, or post local examples into your feed and earn your points.
