UN SDG’s – Goal #12 – Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns
Welcome students, to our eleventh session exploring the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals!
Our focus today will be on goal number eleven, Sustainable Cities & Communities.
This goal seeks to make cities and settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable in order to enable citizens everywhere access to basic services such as housing, healthcare, food and education. We’ll look into what it takes for a city to be ecological responsible by providing green spaces and reducing air pollution as well as how public transit designs can help keep communities connected.
We’ll also explore how cities worldwide are transforming themselves into smart cities with technology-based solutions that increase sustainability while making the urban environment more equitable.
Being a social or business entrepreneur or innovator is being a force for health. What could you do to help the community? Here are some suggestions.
- Support local organizations that work to promote sustainable consumption and production in your community.
- Organize a workshop or event to raise awareness about the environmental impact of consumer goods and services.
- Start a composting or recycling program in your home or community.
