#SaludTues Tweetchat 6/7: How to Address Alzheimer’s in the Latino Community

June is Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month!

This is a good time to reflect on the many challenges and inequities facing people of color in the United States when it comes to Alzheimer’s Disease, dementia, and brain health.

Sadly, U.S. Latinos are 1.5 times more likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease than whites. Latino caregivers experience high levels of stress when supporting their family members with the disease.

Let’s use #SaludTues on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, to tweet about the latest data, strategies, and programs to prevent and reduce Alzheimer’s disease and promote better brain health among Latinos and all people!

We’ll open the floor to your comments, tips, and stories as we explore:

  • The state of Alzheimer’s among Latinos
  • How we can equitably improve brain health
  • What strategies, programs, campaigns, and policies are working to prevent Alzheimer’s and improve brain health

Be sure to use the hashtag #SaludTues to follow the conversation on Twitter in English. Share stories and resources to help prevent Alzheimer’s among Latinos and all people!

#SaludTues is a monthly health equity tweetchat focused on health equity and the Latino population at 12p CT/1p ET on the first Tuesday of each month. #SaludTues is hosted by the @SaludAmerica program at the Institute for Health Promotion Research at UT Health San Antonio.
