Bio and Background

Hello!
My name is Jadyn Butler. I am a Mexican American and Tucson native. I’m a senior at the University of Arizona majoring in Public Health and minoring in Spanish. I enjoy the outdoors, trying new restaurants, and taking trips to the beach.

Why I am a Force for Health® Member...

I am a new intern with Force for Health. Through my education at UA, I became knowledgeable in different fields of public health. With a passion in health disparities, health promotion, and health policy I discovered a place in this network. I aim to understand the tools necessary to provide accessible information to the community regarding healthy behaviors and wellness.

How I use the Force for Health Network Tools

I love that the Force for Health Network Tools cover all of the basics plus more! Utilizing such a diverse network of built in information my life has become easier in that I can utilize the Tools to track my fitness progress, food intake, and healthy habits. I can also maintain and gain knowledge on topics I am already aware of and those that I am not.

My inspiration

One individual who has inspired me from a young age is Anne Frank. When I was first introduced to her story I was in middle school. At this age I was intrigued by history and all of the hardships many minority groups suffered through. In reading her diary I completely changed my outlook on life. Anne has inspired me to continue to fight for equality, what I believe in, and what I aspire to achieve in life.

I would like people to know that Tucson is an ever changing, diverse city with a small town feel that embraces all people and it’s surroundings. Despite the heat being to much to bear at times, the summer nights and beautiful sunsets make it all worth it! Tucson also has a large Latino community that I can say I am proud to be apart of.

Advancing the DREAM

Advancing the DREAM - What it means to me

The words of Dr. Martin Luther King affect me deeply because my boyfriend is African American as well as a few of my family members. I have heard from my boyfriend that going to see a doctor is a challenge for him because he associates it with fear and prejudice. No human should ever feel discriminated upon, especially from those that pledge their life’s work to serve others. I aim to Advance the DREAM by continuing to be open and welcoming to all that I meet.

My Action Pledge to Advance the DREAM?

I will act to be inclusive to all that I meet. I will be kind and encouraging do that others may feel the desire to act in those qualities as well
