Why I am a Force for Health® Member...

We are a world in crisis, with neighborhood chaos.   I am also struggling with some physical and mental health issues.  Its been a tough year, with isolation, weight gain, and grief.

My inspiration

I had a teacher that believed in me.   She helped me realize I had the talent to do better. that has carried over into the rest of my life.

Location

As this Basic Member sample post, I am here to tell you that anywhere in the nation or world is where our members are from .

What would you like people to know about your community?

Our community cares about our neighbors, but we are struggling a bit with recent political and pandemic issues, crazy weather, and all the previous issues with chronic diseases, overdoses, and obesity.   I can’t wait to get more people to become free Basics Members and maybe get some of us to work as Ambassadors.   The people can make things happen in our town.  They always have.

My Citizenship Health Factors

Some of the factors that have been challenging for me have been...

Access to healthy food I can afford.

Broadband access… now with the pandemic I need that internet for school and business.

It's important for me to be part of my community's health because...

I am so grateful for what people have done for my family and I.  With some learning, I can have what it takes to live better and to share what I learn with others.

Some of the strength of my community health factors are:

We have great doctors at the downtown hospital. They do spectacular surgeries.

We also have great nurses and other staff.

Some of the challenges in my community regarding certain health factors are:

We don’t have access to the downtown facility.  The insurance is too confusing, the phones put you on hold, and there is no bus there and I no longer have a car.

We also need people like me to help in the few community programs we have. Most are underfunded and count on volunteers.

Training about health  and social service careers,  and access to jobs there at all levels would be great.

I believe I can help improve my community's health by...

Staying healthy is mission one of the Force for Health.   We do it so we are there to help others.
