National Impaired Driving Prevention Month
December is National Impaired Driving Prevention Month, a chance to address the risks of drunk, drugged, or distracted driving, especially during the holiday season.
3 Things to Know:
1. Nearly 32 people die each day in the U.S. from alcohol-related vehicle crashes (nhtsa.gov).
2. Drug-impaired driving, due to both prescription and illegal substances, continues to rise.
3. Texting while driving is also a form of impaired driving — it can wait! (cdc.gov).
3 Things to Do:
1. Plan rides home ahead of time, using designated drivers or rideshare apps.
2. Be a responsible host during gatherings by avoiding offering excessive alcohol.
3. Share this month’s focus by speaking up about the dangers of impaired driving.
