Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month (SAAPM): Empowering Survivors
April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month (SAAPM), dedicated to raising awareness, supporting survivors, and advocating for the prevention of sexual violence. Through education and action, SAAPM equips individuals and communities with the tools to create safe spaces free from harm and exploitation.
Three Facts:
1. Nearly 1 in 5 women and 1 in 38 men in the U.S. have experienced sexual violence at some point in their lives.
2. Community education and bystander intervention programs have proven to reduce instances of assault and harassment.
3. Survivors of sexual violence benefit from trauma-informed care and support, ensuring their needs are met sensitively and effectively.
How You Can Help:
1. Attend educational workshops on consent, boundaries, and bystander intervention strategies.
2. Donate to or volunteer with organizations that provide survivor support and prevention programs.
3. Advocate for stronger policies and awareness programs in schools, workplaces, and local institutions.
