What would you like people to know about your community?

My community is diverse and supportive, with a strong emphasis on education and healthcare. I want to contribute to making it a healthier and more informed place through my future work in nursing.

My Citizenship Health Factors

Some of the factors that have been challenging for me have been...

One of my challenges has been balancing my studies while preparing for a career in nursing. Adapting to the demands of healthcare education and staying motivated through difficult coursework can be tough, but I remain committed to my goal. Additionally, access to hands-on experience and mentorship opportunities can sometimes be limited, making it more challenging to gain real-world insights.

It's important for me to be part of my community's health because...

A healthy community leads to a better quality of life for everyone. I believe that by being involved in community health, I can help spread awareness, encourage healthy lifestyles, and support individuals in need. As an aspiring nurse, I want to make a difference by contributing to a stronger, more informed, and healthier community.

Some of the strength of my community health factors are:

My community has strong educational programs and resources that promote health and wellness. There is also a great sense of support among residents, as people come together to help one another in times of need. The presence of healthcare professionals and local initiatives focused on mental health and well-being makes me proud to be part of my community.

Some of the challenges in my community regarding certain health factors are:

Despite the strengths, there are still challenges such as limited access to affordable healthcare services for some individuals. Mental health awareness and support, while growing, still need more attention and resources. Additionally, promoting preventative healthcare and encouraging people to adopt healthier lifestyles remains an ongoing challenge.

I believe I can help improve my community's health by...

As a future nurse, I want to educate and inspire people to take better care of their health. I believe I can make a difference by sharing knowledge, advocating for preventive healthcare, and supporting individuals in need. Volunteering, raising awareness about important health issues, and being an active voice in my community are some of the ways I plan to contribute.

Advancing the DREAM

Advancing the DREAM - What it means to me

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. emphasized that injustice in healthcare is one of the greatest inequalities, and this remains true today. Health disparities continue to affect marginalized communities, including African Americans and other minorities, limiting access to quality care, education, and resources. As an aspiring nurse, I recognize the importance of addressing these disparities by advocating for equal access to healthcare, promoting preventative care, and educating individuals about their health. Advancing the DREAM means working toward a healthcare system where everyone, regardless of race or background, receives the quality care they deserve.

My Action Pledge to Advance the DREAM?

In 2025, I pledge to focus on health education and advocacy within my community. I will work to share knowledge about preventive care, wellness, and available resources to help bridge the gap in healthcare disparities. Whether through volunteering, mentorship, or raising awareness, I am committed to empowering individuals with the information they need to take control of their health and make informed decisions.
