Advancing the DREAM - What it means to me |
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, “Injustice in healthcare is the biggest inequality for all.” This statement resonates deeply with me because, to this day, health disparities continue to disproportionately affect marginalized communities, especially African Americans. These disparities create significant barriers to accessing quality care, and they perpetuate cycles of inequality. This affects me personally and as part of a larger community striving for change. When asked, “How can you help advance the DREAM in the spirit of Dr. King’s legacy toward equality and equity for all?” I believe it means taking active steps to ensure that healthcare is accessible, equitable, and inclusive for everyone, regardless of race, income, or background. Dr. King’s vision of justice extends beyond civil rights and into the essential realm of health, which is foundational for all other aspects of life.
