Stress can be from a variety of sources…

When stress becomes distress, its time to act and seek help or help others seek help and get the resources they need. Be a Force for Mental Health for yourself and others.

In the posters that follow, are hints for spotting those that need help. Look for subtle changes as well as dramatic differences from before or after a disaster.

What is a Disaster

For our purposes, a disaster is any event that affects the well being of anyone mentally, physically, environmentally or spiritually. All disasters are local and can be severe, even if it only affects one person. An abused child afraid to ask for help, all the kids in a school shooting lockdown, an entire town after a devastating flood, and even those that are shaken to their core watching the news about war and political issues.

Plan to Recover

Many plan to prevent, prepare respond, and recover from a situation and that is good. Too few plan to deal with recovery and hence this introduction to this topic. Be aware, identify a personin need, care enough to discuss it with them adn work to get them the professional help they need and the close knit support in their environment at home, work, house of worship, and community.
