Strategies for Coping With Flashbacks

Flashbacks are defined as the reexperiencing of a traumatic incident or intrusive memory. They may spontaneously occur throughout your day or can appear years after the incident. Reexperiencing may involve remembering the entire trauma or only pieces, such as sounds and smells. Veterans and service members who have experienced a traumatic event may encounter flashbacks to the original trauma or similar events. Visit health.mil/RealWarriors for resources.
