Bio and Background

Shetal Datta, MPH, is an international health and community health specialist with over 12 years of global health experience specializing in project management, curriculum development, training facilitation, health policy development/implementation, and advocacy, in the areas of HIV/AIDS, reproductive health, and nutrition. Shetal has managed and overseen over $5 million dollars worth of public health projects funded by USAID, UNDP, UNICEF, and Ministries of Health in the ASEAN, and MENA regions across 12 countries. She developed and implemented over 10 different types of health curricula and facilitated over 50 trainings that have resulted in more accurate funding allocations for national health plans, increased advocacy efforts, policy development and implementation around stigma and discrimination, gender equality, and increased access to medical care for over 1000 persons living with HIV around the world. Shetal also has 8 years of experience in community health including creating and leading a wellness center, and health coaching business in the 3rd most obese city in the US. She educated and empowered community members on the topics of metabolic syndrome, diabetes, microbiome health, and nutrition. She has experience in managing a medical practice and small business ranging in staff sizes up to 15 persons. Shetal has personally coached over 500 clients about obesity management, diabetes management, microbiome health, and nutrition. She has created and facilitated over 50 community trainings on the same topic areas resulting in a decreased use of medications, increased awareness about nutrition and obesity, and increased quality of life. Shetal has also served as a Peace Corps volunteer in the South Pacific. She is professionally fluent in Gujarati and Hindi.
