Bio and Background

Hello my name is Salimatou Bah and I am a first time generation student completed my Masters in Public Health with a concentration in global health at George Washington University. I got my undergrad at Illinois State University in Public Health as well. I currently live in Chicago, and I am happy to say that I am a cat mom to a lovely calico cat. I enjoy cooking, taking walks, going to the gym, and spending time with my family. I am super excited to be doing my internship with the Force for Health.

Why I am a Force for Health Member

I am a force for health member because ever since I was a child I have always had an interest in healthcare and ways to help people who might not have enough knowledge on ways to protect themselves. The FFH allows me to learn and teach others about health awareness and that is something I want to be a part of. My goals are to Create a disaster plan for WADEM and also learn more about health education.

How I use the Force for Health Network Tools

I use FFH to make my life easier by increasing my knowledge using the material that is available and teaching others about it.

My inspiration

My parents inspire me because they moved here all the way from Africa and were able to learn english quickly, find a job, and create a great life for me. They work so hard especially coming from Guinea, Conakry where there are not much opportunities so I really applaud them for that.

Some factors that are challenging for me is making sure I stay organized and have enough knowledge and practice in what I am doing.

It's important for me to be part of my community's health because...

This is because I want to educate others on healthcare and be able to give them the resources that they need.

Some of the strength of my community health factors are:
  • They enjoy learning
  • They use their knowledge to educate others.

I am proud to be apart of my community because of the support I receive.

Some of the challenges in my community regarding certain health factors are:
  • health care access in Guinea
  • not enough trained health professionals
  • not enough resources for people in Guinea dealing with medical issues .
  • Maternal and Child Health issues.
I believe I can help improve my community's health by...
  • Applying my knowledge to help
  • Creating a plan that can benefit people in Guinea
  • Partnering up with people in Guinea.
Does your Community have what it takes to be a best in class model for collaborative, healthy communities? Why or why not?

Yes because they are able to apply their skills in real life health problems.
