Why I am a Force for Health® Member...

My role in this network as a student is to assist the  network with data analysis, creating data visualizations and dashboards , and provide metrics to aid in making informed recommendations.

Additionally, stand to benefit from the vast knowledge from the network concerning health related issues.

How I use the Force for Health Network Tools
  • networking with people who share the same aspirations when it comes to managing health effectively.
  • Access to resources and tools that are important in leading a healthy life.
  • Most tools available on the Force integrate with modern technology and this is crucial in pooling health data in one place which can be used to make future decisions.

My inspiration

Am inspired by Warren Buffet. He became wealthy from humble beginnings. The reasons for him being my inspiration stems from several principles that i adore.

  • He lives a simple life full of humility and this has allowed him to be the wealthy man he is today. He lives in the same house and drives the same car acquired a long time ago. This level of humility is amazing.
  • He is patient and believes in long-term investments. Most of his investments are in stocks that have created value over time.
  • He is an avid believer in continuous learning as he reads a lot. Knowledge and staying informed are imperative in making sound investment decisions.
Location

Am temporarily residing in Canada and my community is composed of a largely diversified population and with different perspectives towards health management.

What would you like people to know about your community?

The most important thing i want people to know is the power and challenges of living in a multicultural community. Diverse values and cultures are shared and this can be a progressive development if people are open minded but can be catastrophic if other cultures isolate themselves.

My Citizenship Health Factors

Some of the factors that have been challenging for me have been...

Access to healthcare is  available but with restricted services to temporary residents. This can be a challenge considering that the need for medical care can arise any time.

Financial constraints emanating from the need to finance shortfalls or funding services not readily available to temporary residence.

It's important for me to be part of my community's health because...

Being involved in the  health of my community ensures that all community members are empowered with knowledge concerning health issues, prevention strategies and resources available.

It is also important to be part of the community’s health so that the collective well-being of the community is improved.

Participating in community healthy also means easy access to healthcare resources and services.

Some of the strength of my community health factors are:

There is a strong understanding and tolerance of cultural beliefs and  practices when it comes to the use of traditional medicines.

There is active participation in the healthcare programs by the diverse community to ensure positive health outcomes.

Strong support networks that include family ties, friends and organization that provide practical and emotional support in times of health challenges.

Some of the challenges in my community regarding certain health factors are:

Lack of full access to health care

Limited health education

Prevalence of chronic diseases in some parts of the community

Alcohol and drug abuse issues

Financial constraints

I believe I can help improve my community's health by...

Raising awareness among the community through the use of social medial and community events on the health issues affecting them and sharing information on resources readily available.

Provide health education to the community through organizing seminar, webinars and workshops to discuss topical health issues, preventative measures and resources available.

Take active role in some of the community support groups particulary those concerned with mental health and substance abuse.
