Bio and Background

I was born and raised in a small town in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. This really shaped who I am today, my love for the outdoors and my passion for physical activity. I am currently a senior at NAU with a major in fitness wellness and a minor in nutrition.

Why I am a Force for Health® Member...

I really wanted to be a part of Force for Health because it really embodies some of the same values and beliefs that I have. I want to be able to help others strive to become the best versions of themselves and encourage the world to live and feel healthy.

How I use the Force for Health Network Tools

Using the Force for Health Network Tools allows me to keep track of what is going into my body, how physically active I am, and overall how good I feel on a day to day basis. This helps me stay motivated and encourages me to get better everyday.

My inspiration

Out of everyone in the world I would say that my sister inspires me the most. She is two years older than me and has already accomplished so much in her life. She strives to look at the positives in every situation and always knows the right steps to take even during hard times. She has always been very supportive of me and will always lend me a helping hand even when I do not ask for one.

What would you like people to know about your community?

My community is a very open minded driven group of individuals. Since being at NAU, I have felt very accepted and included no matter where I go. One of my favorite things about NAU is how many people I find to be like minded when it comes to fitness. Whether that being going to the gym and eating healthy, or spending the day at our local ski resort or hiking in Sedona, I find it really cool that people like to keep themselves moving.

My Citizenship Health Factors

Some of the factors that have been challenging for me have been...

A factor I have noticed that has been challenging for me is feeling confident in my thoughts and ideas. I find myself second guessing what I think a lot and believing that what I have to say is important or “correct.”

It's important for me to be part of my community's health because...

I think it is very important to be involved in my community’s health because I want to be able to motivate people and help them take the steps to get better that they might not be able to do on their own. I want to be able to teach people new things and expand their understanding on health as a whole so that they can use that information to not only better their own lives, but also spread awareness and educate others.

Some of the strength of my community health factors are:

I think something my community does well when it comes to health factors is access to physical activity and transportation. There are numerous fitness classes that can be taken here at NAU for free as a student as well as access to a gym. Aside from that, this community is very  fortunate in that there are so many places here to go on hikes, go skiing or snowboards, trails for running and more. We also have a lot of busses that drive all throughout Flagstaff which can be very people for those who don’t have access to cars.

Some of the challenges in my community regarding certain health factors are:

Some challenges I think my community faces are promoting health on a scale that will actually be seen or heard. Although this community does have a lot to offer when it comes to health, I think it could be promoted better so that more people hear about it and can actually utilize it.

I believe I can help improve my community's health by...

I believe I can help improve my community’s health by help promote and spread the word about amazing health access and fitness programs. I also hope to share new ideas throughout the community and educate other on what health means to me and how important it really is.

Advancing the DREAM

Advancing the DREAM - What it means to me

This affects me because it really proves how little importance healthcare is taken in this day and age. To me this means that as a healthcare community we need to work harder and continue to encourage and educate other on healthcare, provide them with resources, and most of all, provide support to those who need it and treat everyone with respect and love.

My Action Pledge to Advance the DREAM?

Something I want to focus on as my action pledge is to spread awareness about health in my community and help others get access to the resources they need to make their lives at least a little bit better.
