Prevent Prepare Respond Recover Celebrate
About 19 years ago today, I started to prepare to help respond to Hurricane Katrina. It was one of our nations largest natural disasters killing and affecting the lives of thousands. Over the next year, my family and I made several trips were made there and I was asked to put together a Lessons Learned book…not of mistakes made but of what good could come out of it. It is now available for reading for free at
I am featuring the words of EVANGELINE FRANKLIN, MD MPH, my co-author and an award winning leader of the response with the chapter she wrote. Read it and explore other essays.
Think about what adverse experience you had and how you overcame it. Did any good come from it.
