Autumn – Franklin University Intern

Bio and Background

I’m a dedicated homeschool mom and military spouse, committed to nurturing young minds and fostering a love of learning at home. My passion for health and wellness inspires me to guide families toward vibrant living through education and holistic approaches. Whether it’s teaching my kids or empowering others to take control of their health, I strive to create an environment where healing, growth, and happiness thrive.

Why I am a Force for Health® Member...

I am a proud “Force for Health” ambassador as part of my university internship, a crucial step toward completing my Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science. I deeply admire the vision and passion of the Force for Health network in promoting health and wellness. Through this opportunity, I am excited to contribute my knowledge of health and fitness, offering valuable insights and advice to empower individuals on their journey to better health.

How I use the Force for Health Network Tools

I am new to the tools provided here, but I am looking forward to exploring all the ways I can use the different resources to improve my own health journey, as well as educate my kids on the importance of prioritizing health.

My inspiration

I draw my inspiration from my family. My husband motivates me with his dedication and hard work in achieving his dream of becoming a Navy Diver, all while excelling as a loving husband and father. My kids inspire me with their resilience and positivity as military children, adapting with grace to frequent moves and ever-changing environments. Their strength and determination fuel my passion for growth and perseverance in every aspect of life.

My Citizenship Health Factors

Some of the factors that have been challenging for me have been...

TIME! I know we all have 24 hours in a day, but sometimes it seems like 23 hours, 59 minutes, and 13 seconds are all allocated for something, often leaving fitness to be excluded.

It's important for me to be part of my community's health because...

I believe that the health of our community reflects the health of our families and determines the health of our country and world. I am talking physical, mental, and spiritual health! A healthy community is a safe community where everyone has an opportunity to thrive.

Some of the strength of my community health factors are:

My immediate and surrounding communities do a great job of offering different types of community gatherings, usually in an outdoor setting (i.e. outdoor movie nights in the park, farmers markets, concerts, chili festivals, etc.).

Some of the challenges in my community regarding certain health factors are:

I am fairly new to this area, but I have noticed financial burden and lack of education seem to be common barriers for people looking to get healthy.

I believe I can help improve my community's health by...

I believe I can help improve my community’s health by empowering individuals with the knowledge and tools to take control of their well-being. Through holistic and functional approaches to nutrition and exercise, I aim to provide accessible, personalized solutions that address root causes rather than symptoms. By focusing on education and preventive care, I can foster lasting change and help bridge the gap in health disparities, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to achieve true health and vitality.

Advancing the DREAM

Advancing the DREAM - What it means to me

To me, advancing Dr. King’s dream means actively working to close these gaps through education, advocacy, and action. In the spirit of his legacy, I am committed to promoting equity in health by empowering individuals—especially mothers in postpartum struggles—to reclaim their vitality and well-being. This aligns with my mission to guide people toward true health through nutrition, exercise, and personalized care that respects their unique needs and cultural contexts.

I can help advance the dream by:

  1. Educating and Empowering: Providing evidence-based resources to underserved communities to increase awareness of preventative care and natural healing methods.
  2. Advocating for Equity: Using my platform and voice to highlight disparities and push for policy changes that ensure equitable healthcare access.
  3. Fostering Representation: Pursuing excellence in my field to serve as a role model, demonstrating that minority voices and perspectives matter in healthcare leadership.
My Action Pledge to Advance the DREAM?

By graduating with my Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P) certification, I pledge to provide underserved communities with an alternative to the conventional health system that has often left them feeling overlooked and underserved. This approach will empower individuals to take control of their health and healing, fostering equity and accessibility in wellness care.
