Why I am a Force for Health® Member...

I am a student consultant focused on developing strategies for Force for Health’s expansion into Canada. My goal in joining this network is to leverage my education and expertise in healthcare and strategy to help expand Force for Health’s impact while gaining valuable insights into community-driven health initiatives.

How I use the Force for Health Network Tools

Currently, I use the Force for Health® Food App to track my meals. I regularly add meals into my food diary, which helps me stay mindful of my nutrition and make healthier choices. This tool makes it easier to monitor my eating habits and maintain a balanced lifestyle.

My inspiration

I’m inspired by all mothers. They are raising tomorrow’s community while ensuring and enabling their children physically, mentally, and emotionally today. Mothers embody resilience, selflessness, and unwavering strength, often balancing multiple roles with grace and determination. Their ability to nurture, educate, and empower the next generation shapes the future of society. They teach invaluable lessons in patience, empathy, and perseverance, proving that true leadership begins at home.

What would you like people to know about your community?

The immigrant community in British Columbia is diverse, resilient, and deeply contributive to society. Many immigrants bring rich cultural backgrounds, skills, and perspectives that enhance the social and economic fabric of the province. They navigate challenges such as adapting to a new culture and workforce while striving to build a better future for themselves and their families. Their perseverance and strong sense of community make BC a more inclusive and dynamic place to live.

My Citizenship Health Factors

Some of the factors that have been challenging for me have been...

Adapting to a new cultural and professional environment in Canada, building a local network from scratch, and balancing academic, professional, and personal responsibilities.

It's important for me to be part of my community's health because...

Health goes beyond just medical care—it includes mental well-being, access to nutritious food, active lifestyles, and social support. By being involved, I can contribute to raising awareness, promoting healthier choices, and supporting initiatives that make healthcare more accessible. When a community thrives in health, it fosters resilience, productivity, and a sense of belonging for all its members.

Some of the strength of my community health factors are:

A strong sense of support and inclusivity, access to diverse healthcare resources, and a growing awareness of mental and physical well-being. The immigrant community in BC, in particular, is resilient and proactive in creating networks that help individuals adapt, access healthcare, and maintain a balanced lifestyle. Community-driven initiatives, cultural organizations, and health programs make me proud to be part of a group that prioritizes collective well-being and support for one another.

Some of the challenges in my community regarding certain health factors are:

Disparities in access to healthcare, particularly for newcomers who may face language barriers or lack familiarity with the local system.

I believe I can help improve my community's health by...

I believe I can help improve my community’s health by raising awareness about the importance of both physical and mental well-being. I aim to support initiatives that promote healthier lifestyles through better nutrition, exercise, and community engagement, fostering a culture of holistic health for everyone.
