Donate Life Month: The Ultimate Gift, The Ultimate Share
Hi, I’m Dr. Rob Gillio, Chief Medical Officer for the Force for Health Network.
April is Donate Life Month, a time to honor the power of giving — not just in spirit, but in blood, bone marrow, organs, and even in death, through the miracle of donation.
A Personal Story
In my own family, we experienced this miracle firsthand. One of my siblings is alive today only because another sibling donated bone marrow. That act of love — and science — gave us more birthdays, more memories, more hope.
But it doesn’t stop at bone marrow.
– People donate blood, platelets, and stem cells during life.
– Others are matched for kidneys or a piece of liver to save someone they love — or even a stranger.
– And after death, people give hearts, lungs, skin, corneas, and so much more — so others may live, breathe, and see again.
What Can You Do?
– Register as an organ donor — it takes just minutes and could save up to 8 lives.
– Donate blood with the American Red Cross or your local blood bank.
– Join the bone marrow or stem cell registry — you never know who you might match.
– This, in my view, is the ultimate “Share it.”
Be Kind, Be Aware
Remember: many people are suffering while waiting — anxious, fearful, and hopeful all at once.
Be kind to them. Be supportive of those who’ve chosen to donate. Whether it’s a living donation or a final gift after death, these are acts of true heroism.
Let’s take action together.
Let your legacy be generosity. Let your life — and even your afterlife — be a force for health and healing.
Learn it. Live it. Share it.
I’m Dr. Rob Gillio — thank you for considering the gift of life.
Let me know if you’d like this turned into a campaign landing page, a digital donor card resource, or a short documentary-style version for community outreach.
