Get Ready: Arizona Travel ID is Required Soon!

Starting May 7, 2025, you will need a special kind of ID to fly inside the U.S. and enter federal buildings. This ID is called the Arizona Travel ID, and it has a gold star in the top right corner. It is also known as the Real ID. If your driver’s license or ID card does not have a gold star, you will need to get a new one before the deadline.

How to Get an Arizona Travel ID

If you don’t have a gold star on your ID, follow these steps to get your Arizona Travel ID:

  • Make an appointment at your local MVD or third-party office.
  • Bring the right documents to prove who you are, how old you are, and where you live.
  • Pay $25 to get your new ID.

Need a Birth Certificate?

Some people may need a birth certificate to get their Arizona Travel ID. If you were born in Arizona, you can get a copy from the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) Office of Vital Records. If you were born in another state, you will need to contact that state’s vital records office for information on how to obtain your birth certificate. 

How to Get Your Arizona Certified Birth Certificate:

  • Apply online or visit an ADHS vital records office.
  • Show a valid photo ID or have your application notarized.
  • Pay the required fee.
  • If you are under 18, you must show proof that you are married or legally independent.
