Healthcare Quality Week
Healthcare Quality Week runs this year from October 20 to 26. Sponsored by the National Association for Healthcare Quality, it’s a week to celebrate the many health professionals working to improve health outcomes by advancing the quality of health care in the United States. Join the conversation by sharing our health care quality information and trainings.
Also check out Healthy People’s objectives related to health care and healthcare-associated infections. Finally, share MyHealthfinder’s resource to help patients prevent infections when getting medical care.
Healthcare Quality Week (HQW) is a dedicated time to acknowledge the progress made by healthcare and quality professionals toward improving patient outcomes and to prepare ourselves for the many challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. Learn more about the event.
Healthcare Quality Week History
Healthcare Quality Week was established by the National Association of Healthcare Quality (NAHQ) in 1985, to recognize and celebrate the contribution of healthcare quality experts in their various organizations. Held on the third week of October each year, NAHQ holds a week-long celebration in collaboration with groups dedicated to improving healthcare quality. In 1985, NAHQ received a letter from President Ronald Reagan supporting Healthcare Quality Week. In 2009, NAHQ started their first-year partnership with Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) to celebrate Healthcare Quality Week and one year later in 2010, NAHQ members had access to free patient resources during Healthcare Quality Week thanks to a partnership with the Agency for Health Research and Quality (AHRQ).
