7.12 How to Diaper

There are two types of diapers- cloth and disposable. Disposable diapers are more convenient, but they can be more expensive in the long run. Cloth diapers must be washed after each use.
To change a diaper, first lay your baby down on a clean, dry surface. If you are using a cloth diaper, put a clean diaper under your baby’s bottom. If you are using a disposable diaper, open the diaper and put it under your baby’s bottom.
Next, unfasten the soiled diaper and remove it. Be sure to dispose of the soiled diaper properly. If you are using a cloth diaper, you will need to rinse it out in the sink before washing it.
Now it is time to put on the clean diaper. If you are using a cloth diaper, fasten the clean diaper around your baby’s waist. If you are using a disposable diaper, simply fasten the tabs around your baby’s waist.
Finally, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
If you are using disposable diapers, you will need to change your baby’s diaper more frequently than if you are using cloth diapers. Disposable diapers can become full quickly and cause your baby to become uncomfortable. It is a good idea to check your baby’s diaper every two to three hours, or whenever you think it may be necessary.
When changing a diaper, always be sure to wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. You will also want to make sure that the area where you are changing your baby’s diaper is clean and dry. A clean, dry surface will help to prevent diaper rash.
If you have any questions about how to change a diaper, be sure to ask your doctor or pediatrician.
