The ingredients for Hausa Koko, a famous Ghanaian breakfast dish, include millet flour, spices, and water. The Hausa ethnic group, which is present in various West African nations including Ghana, is where the dish has its origins. For many years, Hausa Koko has been a mainstay of Ghanaian cooking, and it is very popular there. It is rich in carbohydrates and vitamins.


INGREDIENTS

2 cups millet flour
6 cups water
1 tablespoon ginger powder
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 tablespoon cloves powder
1 tablespoon anise seed
1 tablespoon dried pepper flakes
Salt to taste
Sugar to taste


RECIPE

To make a smooth paste, combine the millet flour with 2 cups of water in a big pot. Set aside.
Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a different pot.
Add spices and simmer for five minutes.
Slowly pour the millet paste into boiling water while stirring constantly.
Lower heat and cook for 20–30 minutes.
Add salt and sugar to taste.
Simmer an additional 10 minutes.
Serve hot with bread, koose, or groundnuts.
