Medical Minutes with Dr. Rob: Pancreatic Cancer

Hi, this is Dr. Rob with Dr. Rob’s Medical Minutes.
November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month.

Why it’s Important
Pancreatic cancer is one of the deadliest cancers, with a 5-year survival rate of around 11%. Early detection is challenging due to vague symptoms, making awareness of risks and early signs crucial.

Symptoms and Findings
Signs include abdominal pain, jaundice, and unexplained weight loss. These symptoms are often subtle and similar to other digestive conditions, leading to late diagnoses.

What to Do and Ask Your Doctor
If you’re at higher risk, talk to your doctor about screening options. Early action, especially with persistent symptoms, can improve treatment outcomes. Healthy lifestyle choices may also help lower risk.

Learn it, Live it, Share it. Be a Force for Health!
