7.14 Laying Baby Down to Sleep

When you lay your baby down to sleep, it is important to make sure that they are in a safe and comfortable position. There are a few things that you can do to ensure that your baby is safe and comfortable when sleeping.
First, make sure that the surface on which your baby will be sleeping is firm and flat. This will help to prevent your baby from rolling over and becoming injured.
Second, use a pillow or other soft surface to support your baby’s head and neck. This will help to keep their spine in alignment and prevent them from getting a flat head.
Third, make sure that the crib or bassinet is free of pillows, blankets, or other soft objects. These can all pose a suffocation hazard for your baby.
Finally, always place your baby on their back to sleep. This is the safest position for them to be in and will help to prevent Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
By following these simple tips, you can help to ensure that your baby is safe and comfortable when sleeping.
