7.2 Caring for Yourself

After giving birth, it’s important to take care of yourself both physically and emotionally. Here are some tips to help you recover and adjust to your new life as a parent:
1. Get plenty of rest. Try to sleep when your baby sleeps, even if it means taking short naps during the day.
2. Eat healthy foods and drink plenty of fluids. This will help your body heal and give you the energy you need to care for your baby.
3. Avoid alcohol and cigarettes. They can interfere with your ability to breastfeed and bond with your baby.
4. Take a break from caring for your baby every now and then. Ask your partner, family, or friends to help out so you can have some time to yourself.
5. Seek support from others who are going through the same thing. Talking to other parents can help you feel less alone and more equipped to deal with the challenges of parenthood.
