You can maintain a health blood pressure by focusing on living a healthy lifestyle.  The following steps are recommended:

  • Eat a healthy diet: Foods consumed should be low in sodium and high in nutrients, such as fruites, vegetables, and whole grains
  • Get regular exercise: Focus on becoming more active, through excercising at least 2 hours and a half a week
  • Limit alcohol and tobacco use:  Avoid tobacco and alcohol because they increase blood pressure
  • Manage stress​​​​
  • Adhere to medicine prescribed by your doctor: Medicines don’t cure high blood pressure, but it is important to take medicine as prescribed in order to control blood pressure
